The Best Luxury Hotels in Edinburgh
There are many shades of luxury hotels in Edinburgh and there are plenty to choose from iconic hotels to new boutique style hotels. Below see some recommendations
BEST RESORT HOTEL: While the Sheraton may not have historic cachet, what it lacks in historic character it makes up in style, comfort and its got the whole spa thing sorted. Its spa is known as ‘One Spa’ with pool, hydrotherapy baths and treatments. But its ‘piece de resistance’ is its outdoor infinity pool which looks over the rooftops of Edinburgh. Its nicely located near the Theatre area and close to Princes Street.
BEST HOTEL ICON: The Hilton Caledonian is synonymous with Edinburgh highlife. It is at the end of popular Princes Street and is the ‘grand old’ hotel of Edinburgh. It has the obligatory spa and is run by Hilton these days. It is a big hotel with 2 restaurants and 2 bars but as the original Edinburgh hotel with great rooms its still worthy of its status.
BEST BOUTIQUE HOTEL: The Glasshouse. It was formerly a church and now it’s a ritzy 5 star hotel. There has been a great fashioning of a unique building into a hotel with the result of some quirky rooms. Overall, the style has a light touch. If you’re a style guru you will appreciate this hotel. It’s not too big and not too small with 65 rooms and you get a friendly welcome.
BEST APARTHOTEL: Holyrood Apartments are just off the Royal Mile and offers great modern accommodation which is of a very high quality, in a great location at a great price. If you are a party of 4 to 6 people then this can be a very affordable option without compromising on quality of accommodation. The welcome is pleasant with a breakfast hamper.
BEST HIDDEN GEM HOTEL: Ah Channing’s Hotel! It is a nice little small quiet boutique hotel in the best sense of the word. With a nice mini-grand finish the hotel combines the best of the old world character with new age comforts. It is hard to fault this small charming hotel which is just 7 minutes to Princes Street. In a nutshell, understated charm and elegance.
BEST NEW HIP HOTEL: The Missoni is one of Edinburgh’s latest hotels and has an up-to-the minute hip and stylish finish with the use of bold cultures and multi-layered textures. Rooms are a standard size but with a beautiful modern finish and bathrooms with the latest in sanitary ware. It has a funky bar and is very much the place to be seen. For all this there are some great deals on the hotel and its very central.
