Luxury Travel to Rio De Janeiro
If you have decided to visit Rio de Janeiro, first congratulate yourself. You have made an excellent decision: hot, steamy, sultry samba, brilliant blue skies rivaled only by the cerulean water, the incredible Tijuca Forest in the midst of the city, and the enticing nightlife of Ipanema and the famed Copacabana await you. Rio de Janeiro is a charming, vibrant city, and one that is worth exploring. For the first-time visitor, it can be a bit overwhelming. What should you see and do first?
When in Rio, the beach is a must. You cannot waste these glorious days inside, so plan on bringing sunscreen. The Copacabana Beach is perhaps one of the most famous in the world, and if you want to do some beautiful people-watching, this is the beach for you. You will find sunbathers, volley ball players, and long stretches of pure white sand. Watch your wallet, though, because pickpockets abound. For a less frenetic pace, go to Ipanema Beach for its dazzling water and clean sand.
After taking in the beauty at the beach, make sure to hit other Rio hotspots and cultural attractions. The 390-foot granite Sugar Loaf Mountain is not to be missed: ride the cable car for views that you will remember for the rest of your life. Visit the famous Cristo Redentor, or Statue of Christ the Redeemer, the Jardim Botanico, and relax at the beautiful Tijuca National Park. View the city’s wonderful architecture at the Catedral de Sao Sebastiao do Rio de Janeiro and the Palacio do Catete. There is so much to see and do in this vibrant city, but save some energy for the evening.
Rio de Janeiro’s nightlife is legendary, and there is something for everyone. Those given to intellectual debates will want to check out the Academia de Cachaca to test Brazil’s national drink, a liquor made from distilled sugar cane. Those wanting a less cerebral experience can dance their cares away at Baronneti or Bunker. For incredible live music, check out the Carioca da Gema and its neighbor, the CafĂ© Sacrilegio, for excellent samba.
Retire for the evening in the luxurious accommodations that have made Brazil a sought-after travel destination throughout the world. Your stay in Rio de Janeiro will be exciting, relaxing, glamorous, confusing, and adventurous by turns, but it is always memorable and always worth the trip.
