Facts You Want To Know About Tag Heuer Watches
Tag Heuer is a Swiss luxury watch brand. It was introduced in the year 1860 when Edouard Heuer in St-Imier founded Uhrenmanufaktur Heuer AG. It has been since then that the motto of the Swiss watch making legend is ‘Swiss Avant-Garde’. However, Tag Heuer watches are mainly popular in the sports world for their accurate measuring instruments. Mostly famous among athletes, these timepieces are also a craze in the market among watch lovers.
Now let us creep into the history and achievements of this brand:
After setting its root in 1860, the brand in 1887 patented oscillating pinion, which is still applied by many watch manufacturers while making mechanical wrist chronographs.
The watch brand is in fact even popular for launching the first wrist chronograph in the market in the year 1914.
Heuer in 1916 is also said to have introduced the first stopwatch, Micrograph. The model was followed by another stopwatch Semikrograph, which offered 1/50th of a second calculation and split-second function. With this split-second function calculating the interval time between two events or contestants has become easy.
Today, the watch brand is said to be the first manufacturer to have mastered the chronographs with an unmatched accuracy of 1/1,000th of a second, let be 1/10th and 1/100th of a second.
Tag Heuer watches are considered as official timekeepers in Olympic Games. The brand has been bestowed with this role since 1920.
The company is in a continuous quest for excellence and innovation and always aims high. Its six years partnership with Kimi Raïkkönen, the driver of Scuderia Ferrari F1 of 2007 Formula 1 World Champion; F1 ambassadors Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton and Team Vodafone McLaren Mercedes in Formula 1 proves it. The company has also involved itself with celebrities like Maria Sharapova, the tennis player; Jeff Gordon, the Nascar idol; Sébastien Bourdais, the F1 driver and Bollywood and Hollywood Icons Shah Rukh Khan and Brad Pitt respectively, to epitomize performance and prestige.
In the year 2006, Professional Golf Watch from Tag Heuer, won a product design award in the lifestyle/leisure category. In 2007, the brand even won the same award for its unique timepiece Monaco Calibre 360 LS. It was a tough competition where there were about 2,2000 watches contending for the same lifestyle/leisure title. In 2010, two years before, Tag Heuer watches’ Carrera 1887 won La Petite Aiguille award.
