2009 BMW Z4 – Second Generation of Z4 Starts Off in Style
BMW Z4 is a sports car with rear wheel drive manufactured by the German automobile giant BMW. Z4 replaced Z3, whose first generation production started in the year 2002 at the BMW plant located in Spartanburg of South Carolina. Production of both coupe and roadster forms started at a time. When the car was launched for the first time it won the award ‘Design of the Year Award’ by the automobile magazine. Starting with the model year of 2009, the second generation Z4 was built at the BMW plant located at Regensburg of Germany, which is a roadster with retractable hardtop.
The first generation of BMW Z4 was assigned the E85 label in the form of roadster and E86 in the form of Coupe. The design of the car was done by Danish engineer of BMW named Anders Warming, who later designed the concept car of Mille Miglia with some shapes as that of the model Z4. The design of Z4 comes up to many criticisms of its preceding model Z3. It is larger than Z3 and also has an important chassis, which is firm. BMW Z4 has a front suspension of strut type like the predecessor of the model.
The rear suspension of the car, nevertheless is substantially different from the model of Z3, which was manufactured on the basis of the model E30 BMW 3 series. BMW Z4 uses a very advanced multi link suspension instead of a semi trailing arm suspension. It was manufactured at Spartanburg of South Carolina.
