The terminology for this type of aircraft has been changing, but the general classification for a VLJ (very light jet) is four seats. These are still light jets but with a smaller cabin size. For flights to Vegas with a couple of guys or flights from NY to Miami, they are reasonable. You would not want to rent these jets if you are chartering cross-country for more than three hours.

The Embraer Phenom 100 is a very nice way to charter a jet for business or pleasure. They have an aggressive per-hour fuel rate. They fit up to four passengers. The interior was created by BMW and the luggage space is nice and can fit four golf bags.

In Europe, the fuel pricing is higher and most of the travel is regional. Therefore, a fuel-efficient charter aircraft is needed. Several operators have purchased the Citation Mustang. To hire a private jet in Italy, Germany and even the UK, the Citation Mustang has a good per-hour cost.
