The Luxury Kitchen Office: For The Stay at Home Workforce
Working at home is the ultimate luxury. It means you can structure your working day around all the other things you have to be getting on with, and if you’d rather get the work done on a Saturday, or by getting up extra early then you can. Not every employer will allow their employees to do this, but it actually saves them money as they won’t need as much office space. You could give different people different days as work from home time, and then you’ll be able to substantially cut down on the number of desks that you need. Just operate a grab a desk system, and you can easily have one less desk for every five members of staff, for example.
So with the benefits this gives to employers, employees will have to make sure that their home is actually suitable for them to work from. This means having an area where they can shut themselves away and sit and work peacefully. Somewhere where the family know that you’re technically in ‘at work’ mode and you’ll be able to work as efficiently (if not more so) than you would if you were at the office.
Many people find home more productive than the office, because they’re not being asked questions by colleagues, being drawn into conversation, or being given extra little jobs to do at all times.
So where in your home would you fit in your workspace? Many people have dedicated studied which are perfectly suited for this role specifically, while others just won’t have this space. It could mean that you’re going to have to use the laptop on your sofa (and why not put the television on while you’re there, just for a little bit of background noise?). That’s just not going to work is it?
Many children already choose the kitchen table to spread out their books and get their homework done, because it’s just a really practical place. You might not have the space in the bedroom for a desk, so the kitchen table makes a great equivalent. Distractions are minimal, and when in doubt mum and dad are usually not too far away to ask for help.
So would you think to incorporate a study into your luxury kitchens? It’s not a bad idea when you think about it. The more use you get out of each room the better in our books, and your luxury kitchens are bound to be somewhere you will want to spend time.
When you’re designing luxury kitchens, think about all these extra little uses you can get out of them. Will you lay out your luxury kitchen so you can include a small study area as well? All you’ll need is a section of work surface with a gap underneath so you can sit comfortably. Make sure there are power points nearby so you can plug in your computer, and a printer if you need it.
There’s so many ways you can get more from luxury kitchens than you can from a standard fitted option, so make sure you don’t just think inside the box.
