2008 Audi R8 GT 5.2 V10
A new cool car was born after a lot of hard work. We are talking about the Audi specialists that have managed to create the Audi R8 GT. The supercar receives power from a 5.2-liter V10 mid-mounted engine. The output reaches 560 horsepower and the wheels receive it through a sequential transmission. All the horsepower enable the car to reach a top speed of 200 mph and to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 3.6 seconds. The engine is situated in an aluminum and magnesium monocoque chassis.
To handle the extra power, the specialists have made some changes in terms of suspension and brakes. The automatic transmission and the all-wheels drive system received a whole set of commands and so this way, the job of the driver is a little easier. Unfortunately, the exterior styling was not improved, but the good news is the performance is now higher.
The new Audi R8 GT will be built as a Limited Edition model. Only 333 units will see the daylight and will be sold everywhere on the Globe. The North American customers will receive 90 cars. For the ones of you that do not know, the model had its first official debut in Paris at the 2010 Motor Show.
When it comes to the price of Audi R8 the germans suggests a starting price of $196.800 excluding the $1.250 destination charge. In the end, this model will be more expensive than the entry-level R8 4.2-liter FSI with $87.000 and with $39.000 than the standard R8 5.2 FSI coupe. The carmaker is offering the new model in four incredible colors: Suzuka Gray, Ice Silver, Phantom Black and Samoa Orange. The interior is covered in Alcantara, but leather is also offered as a choice. The 2008 Audi R8 enjoy also carbon fiber accents for the dashboard and doors. The 90 units that will be sold on the US market are not equipped with 4-point racing harness, Sparco bucket seats, a red roll cage and the ignition kill. The weight of the 5.2-liter Coupe was reduced in a very obvious way by 180 pounds. How? Well, it comes from the rear bumper, rear hatch, carpeting, battery, hood, rear spoiler and side blades. Audi offers different choices when it comes to transmissions. The R8 5.2-liter units can send the power to the wheels through a traditional 6-speed manual or through an R-Tronic 6-speed single-clutch sequential automatic one. Unfortunately, these options are not available for the Audi R8 GT.
It seems that after the upgrade, the new R8 GT is capable of reaching an aerodynamically limited top speed of 199 mph thanks to the Quattro all-wheel drive system. The model runs on 19-inch forged alloys covered in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires. These measure 235/35R19 on the front axle and 295/30R19 on the rear one. Also on many websites with cars online you can find other sizes which can be mounted on this car.The handling was improved after the adaptive electronic suspension was replaced with standard Bilstein coilovers. The carmaker was not thinking of performance when started working on this new R8, but tried to offer driving pleasure. This is why maybe the car will not set any track record.
