Will the Apple iPad Live Up to the Hype?
With the release date of the Apple iPad being in a matter of weeks it seems people just can’t stop talking about this device. The iPad is the latest release by the US computer manufacturer Apple and is their take on a tablet PC. The device is set for release on the 3rd April in the US and they are available to Pre-order now from Apple.com. But what exactly is the iPad, does it deserve all the hype? Well let’s see.
With the iPad, Apple hopes to revolutionize the market by offering a whole new alternative to netbook’s and laptops. The device features a 9.7 inch touch sensitive screen and is based around the same operating system Apple has previously developed or the iPhone. Much like the iPhone, the device gives the user the ability to surf the Web, check Email, play Games and much more whilst on the move. Apple hopes that by offering all of these functionalities in a touch screen device that it will give people a better option to buying a netbook.
The iPad will also support the use of all of the apps currently available in the app store, meaning that any app you had on your iPhone or iPod touch will also work on the iPad. Apple also plans to release a whole new range of apps specifically designed for the iPad, making use of its faster processing speed and larger screen to make the apps even better than we have previously seen with the iPhone. Apple will also release a version of their iWork program which has been specifically designed for the iPad. Previously only available for Mac’s it will be interesting to see how this idea pans out and if it is successful then the netbook manufacturers and e-readers vendors (i.e. Amazon Kindle) had better watch out as this could truly be a new standard in computing.
