Maserati GranTurismo S
Power, driving pleasure and supreme elegance characterize the new Maserati GranTurismo S. The car boats a 433 hp 4.7 liter engine which is a guarantee for exceptional performance whether its six speeds automatic transmission assures the maximum driving comfort. The S is the Maserati GranTurismo at its purest form and its exterior styling by Pininfarina provides one of the most beautiful car bodies on the road nowadays.
The GranTurismo S increased torque and its six-speed transmission convey the car its true GT spirit. The Brembo brakes feature six piston calipers on the front clasping dual-cast discs, a set up allowing the cast iron rotors and aluminum hubs to be casted as a single piece to reduce the weight but, at the same time, to keep delivering consistent and exceptional performance even at high temperatures.
The on-board comfort is guaranteed thanks to the skyhook damping system which adjusts automatically based on the road conditions and the characteristic of each driver. The technology behind it uses shock absorbers with aluminum body to regularlyregulate the damping rate to then integrate with the Maserati Stability Program (MSP) safety system and the vehicle’s automatic transmission. The skyhook system uses acceleration sensors that detect the movement on all four wheels and body. A control unit then processes the data received by the sensors, analyzes the road surface and driving style to then adjust the dampers accordingly thanks to their proportional valves. As a result, the Maserati GranTurismo S is able to tweak the suspension settings to let the driver feel even less movement through the chassis during gear changes. If the driver selects the “Sport” setting on the dash, he/she obtains a stiffer, more contained load transfer, greater agility and stability with incredible performance. The on-board computer reduces gear shifts times and Skyhook focuses on body control conveying more grip.
The GranTurismo S ideal weight distribution of 49% on the front and 51% on the rear provides a superb car reaction while giving the driver an unparalleled sense of balance and response. The box-steel structure allows the suspension to better track the road, which enhances the car’s dynamic handling while also providing a more comfortable drive.
The GranTurismo S precise handling benefits from a front and rear wishbone suspension: it limits the front dipping under braking and the rear end squatting under acceleration.
The car six-speed automatic transmission is created by the German leading transmission ZF Company and it is adjusted specifically for Maserati. The self-adapting automatic transmission is particularly felt at low to medium revs but still delivers immediate power higher up the rev range allowing changes at 7200 rpm, a redline that no other automatic transmission in the class can equal.
